============================== C-One FAQ ===============================v0.9 Important Note: please contibute to this FAQ adding infos/correction/news you believe is needed. My english need to be corrected too (as you well know already :) Most of the following it token from emails I had with Jens.. ============================================================================ - Which monitor do I need to attach to my C-ONE board? A multiscan monitor should be perfect, anyway is higly suggested to use a monitor who can handle 50hz frequency The Amiga is 100% exact, so it will give the exact VSync frequencies as a real Amiga. This results in 49,9Hz for PAL, and your monitor might not like that. So: NTSC= 60 Hz. PAL = 49,9 Hz. Most PC monitors require 60Hz. Some work with 50Hz, and none I know work with 49,9Hz. We might tweak the PAL core to output 50,3Hz to get around that problem. All I can say at the moment is "hang on - we're working on it!". (06-Dec-2008) - how many c-one have been selled in the world? It's roughly 100 units - Which kickstart version should I use with FPGA-Minimig cores? Any Kickstart for A500/A2000 should be OK. To avoid A4000/A3000/A1200 versions At the actual develop of cores, 1.3 have more compatibility than the highest versions. -Original kickstart v1.3 is 256K size, but I've read 512K version is required. True? Right, the 1.3 version must be copied twice in a row into a single file for the older cores, but the newest should work with both.. -How can I change the boot picture? I would like know which core (folder) I'm launching There isn't any PNG->RAW converter yet, but you can add text files to the pictures. The picture is called "select.raw" and you can add a text file "select.txt" that is overlaid over the core picture. See the select.txt file in the c64_2 directory of the archive. -My C-One board doesn't boot any Amiga core. What can I do? Take out any C64 cartridge and SDRAM module, if present. Also, there's the possibility of a flaky power supply. The C-One doesn't require much power, but it must be stabilized very well. The C-One relies on the power supply to comply with ATX standard, and that includes very low ripple on 3.3V and 5V This is an example of well working config of C-One board: The SD-Ram (DIMM) socket is empty. The CPU/RAM card is in the CPU slot. The PCI slot is empty and the C64 expansion slot is empty. Is there a 1G "silicon power 120x" CF card, or an 8MByte (yes, that small!) which is branded "Feiya". Keyboard is noname, monitor is the Eizo Flexscan. -What are the power reqs for the c-one? 12V less than 100mA with two SIDs installed. 3.3V less than 1 amp with SD-Ram module installed, less if you don't install SD-Ram. 5V depends very much on SID and cartridge installation, but my guess is that you're totally fine with 1 amp. I'd have to check the schematics if the negative voltages are used at all. Can anyone help out? If -12V is used, then it's somewhere in the audio part, but since there are no op amps in that circuit (at least not that I can remember), I guess it's all positive voltages. In other words: Choose the smalles PSU you can find, but make sure that the "power good" signal works like on all ATX power supplies. (Last edit 07-12-2008)
